Vacation leave refers to leave granted to employees after fulfilling the legally mandated work requirements. These are paid days of leave designed to allow employees appropriate rest, physical recovery, and reduce fatigue from continuous work. Therefore, vacation leave is a benefit that contributes to long-term employee productivity.

According to the Labor Protection Act, employees who have completed one year of service are entitled to annual leave. The employer must provide a minimum of six days of leave. However, the employer may grant additional leave days based on organizational policy, such as 10-15 days per year, depending on seniority and special benefits. The employer must pay the employee their normal wages during leave days and cannot revoke leave entitlements without justifiable reason. Furthermore, employees can negotiate with their employer to postpone their leave to the following year if the organization has a policy to do so.

How many vacation days are you allowed per year, according to labor laws?

The law stipulates that employees who have worked for one year are entitled to at least 6 days of vacation per year. Companies may provide more than this according to their internal policy. Some organizations increase the number of days based on years of service, such as 8 days after 3 years or 10 days after 5 years, and so on.

Generally, employees can claim their vacation days after completing one full year of service. However, many organizations allow employees to claim them immediately after their probationary period, depending on the company’s internal regulations. Advance notice of vacation time is required to allow the team to plan and divide tasks appropriately during the leave. The minimum notice period is usually 3-7 days, depending on the type of work.

The law doesn’t specify a maximum number of consecutive days of leave, but most are governed by company policy. Employees can take consecutive days of leave if it doesn’t affect work and receives approval from their supervisor. Some organizations allow 5-10 consecutive days of leave, especially during annual company trips.
